From Event to Atelier: Marcus Allen Creative and The Vestments Group Redefine How Style Lives Beyond the Moment
Following an editorially featured 2025 wedding in The Knot’s Winter Issue, Marcus Allen Creative introduces an atelier-based studio practice through The Vestments Group, bridging costume design and personal style. Rooted in film and television costume disciplines, the atelier applies production-level rigor to wardrobe, image, and environment across private, corporate, and cultural contexts.
Recognized for editorial-level event production and styling, Marcus Allen Creative’s Creative Direction and Planning is recently featured in The Knot’s six-month Winter issue, highlighting the wedding of actress Kat Graham and Bryant Wood. Behind the wedding’s wardrobe coordination and staff styling was a newly formalized studio practice. Co-founders Marcus Allen and Allison Behring launched The Vestments Group, a styling firm redefining how wardrobes are designed, maintained, and lived with.
Rather than treating clothing as a series of singular statements, The Vestments Group views style as something practiced daily-shaped by repetition, habit, and context. Operating at the intersection of costume design and personal styling, the studio approaches wardrobe as an integrated system designed to support how individuals live, work, and appear over time. Drawing from film and television production disciplines, the atelier applies the discipline and rigor of costume design — including continuity, function, and authorship — to both costumes and real-world wardrobes that must perform across shifting roles and environments. Working alongside an extended network of tailors, craftspeople, makers, and artisans, The Vestments Group functions as a full-scale studio, equipped to design and execute complex wardrobe and costume systems at scale.
“Production is theater. Styling is identity. Costume design is narrative,” said Marcus Allen, co-founder of The Vestments Group. “Each discipline operates at a different scale, but all demand precision and authorship. The Vestments Group brings those disciplines together in a way that allows clothing to endure beyond a single moment.”
“The atelier model gives us the ability to treat wardrobe as a living system,” said Allison Behring, co-founder of The Vestments Group. “It’s not just about how something looks in isolation, but how it functions, evolves, and holds meaning across time and context.”
At the Graham–Wood wedding, The Vestments Group contributed wardrobe systems for staff and orchestra and oversaw final wardrobe coordination across the wedding events, positioning clothing as an integrated design element rather than a standalone detail. While Marcus Allen Creative continues to lead high-level creative projects, The Vestments Group represents a formally structured studio practice centered on continuity, authorship, and intentional design.
